Tucker Lacrosse LLC @ Johns Hopkins University 4v4 “Queen of the Turf” Tournament Rules |
Players and coaches must display good sportsmanship toward each other and the officials. This event is meant to be competitive AND FUN! Enjoy the day. |
Players must wear mouth guards and goggles at all times. |
Pool A games and Pool B games. |
4 field players and a goalie on the field. |
Sidelines and Endlines will serve as boundary “guidelines” behind the cage, but officials must make the “boundary” call as they see fit for safety reasons and turnovers/change of possession everywhere else. |
No more than two coaches are permitted on the field. All other parents and fans must stay outside of the fenced area surrounding the turf field. |
Possession for the first game determined by stick toss. |
After the first game, the winning team starts with the ball after rotating. On the “Queen” cage—the team that just won at the “Queen” cage will start with the ball. |
Alternate possession after a goal is scored. |
Free clear to anywhere outside the TOP MIDDLE of the 12 meter after a goal, ALL other clears can be contested. |
After a change of possession/turnover there must be a clear above the TOP MIDDLE of the 12 meter before you can attack the goal. Referees will issue 1 warning if the team fails to clear and restart the play at the top of the 12—if the team repeatedly fails to clear before attacking it will result in a turnover to the opposing team. |
Substitute on the fly through the designated subbing area (between the 2 cones above the 12 meter; the player exiting the field must be off the field entirely before her teammate enters the field. |
If a player receives a yellow card, she must sit out for ONE minute, but a sub can come in to replace her. |
No borrowing of players from another team unless approved by Coach Tucker. |
Energy and enthusiasm are encouraged throughout the day! |
Winning team rotates toward Cage #1 “Queen of the Turf,” Losing team rotates towards “The Pit” which is the highest numbered cage. |
There will be no stalling—this will be left to referees discretion. The referee will issue ONE warning and advise to attack the goal. If a team repeatedly stalls—It will result in a turnover. |
All other rules will be followed & enforced (age appropriate) i.e. charging, blocking, illegal check, etc. |
If there is a tie, the official will set up a throw with the 2 players standing on the 8 meter facing AWAY from the goal (butts to the cage)—the referee will stand 4 meters away on the throw. After the throw is administered, this is a 1 v 1 to the goal. If a penalty is called, the team with the ball will start at the 12m and the fouling player will line up on the 8m to the side. |
If there is a foul and time runs out in a tie game, the official will set up the 8-meter to complete the game. If a tie remains, play out the 1 v 1. |
